The statues continue to show their approval of students.
Tommy Ludwig - he gazes up with wonder through his thick brown glasses at the statues. He's barely stopped moving before the Horned Serpent's gem glows.
Dakota Mandrake - a little on the tall side for his age, he's stopped moving in the knot for only a moment before the Wampus roars.
Mahke Miskwa'wa - the slender boy slowly steps in the Gordian Knot, head down, clearly nervous. It is a long agonizing few minutes of silence, a look on anxiousness growing on the boy's face; maybe he won't be chosen at all? He looks to be almost on the verge of tears before, finally, the Horned Serpent's gem glows to life, brighter than anyone has seen it in years.
Caden Montgomery - his foot barely enters the knot before the Pukwudgie statue has raised its arrow into the air. There are murmurs through the crowds and looks from teachers; the statues have never chosen this quickly before.
Olivia Sands - her head is raised high with an unusual confidence as she strides into the knot. She seems almost to pose as she waits with a sigh, like she's used to getting what she wants immediately. After a brief moment, the statue of the Wampus roars.
Theseus Scamander - a ripple of conversation runs through the crowd at the name; could it be? The boy has waited only a moment before both the Wampus roars and the Thunderbird flaps its wings. He ponders between the two for a moment before proudly declaring that he will join Wampus.
The sorting continues...
And then:
Zeloph's voice calls down from his balcony, "Smith, Layla."
